We're all such a strong influence on each other, I'd be interested in any new films on your list that came from a Movie Dictator Club, Marathon, Bracket Matchup, Animation Countdown, or other type of personal recommendation.

So I'm a fair bit into building my new top-100 and am wondering what sort of stats I should do. Director isn't too interesting since most have just one and I think tops is three. I'll certainly do it by decade. I will highlight male/female but that is more depressing than anything since I think I've got about 5 from female directors. How is the preferred way to do country? Is Brokeback Mountain US or Taiwan? Is Slumdog India or UK? Is Children of Men UK or Mexico?

One thing I am trying to keep tabs on is what portion pass the Bechdel Test. Now, I rather think the test is full of crap (according to the test, Before Sunrise/Sunset=fail, 28 Days Later=pass) but it is interesting anyway.

I'll probably highlight #animated and #documentary

Anyway, what else?

The test may not work in all permutations, but the fundamental premise is still valid. Good to see you're doing this, though. I might just have a go myself.

I like this idea very much.

I'd never heard of the Bechdel Test, but what a keen observation.

I wish we used the word keen outside of the context of observations.

I don't like starting so many sentences with the word I, but it is very early.

I call people keeners sometimes. *shrugs*

Sometimes I'm a keener. ;)

"I'm keen" and "keen as" are things I say regularly in conversation.

Also, obligatory lol @ the Bechdel test. You are a battler if you pay any credence to that rubbish.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

No ranking? Heresy! :D

Very interesting list (Love seeing Hot Fuzz). Which Crash made your list - '96 or '05?

96 should make all lists, but it's probably the 05 abomination.

I know you prefaced about availability and everything, but 70 films from the 2000s?  Wow.

I just don't find myself connecting deeply to "classics" generally speaking. I think the "film isn't as good as it used to be" thing is a bunch of rubbish. And considering how consistent the entries per year over the last decade, I'm not even sure I buy that there is much variation from year to year.

It is the Haggis-fest. Haven't seen the Cronenburg's and don't like his films that I have seen. My earlier list is ranked if you'd like to get an idea about that (see index post). My top 20 is basically unchanged.

Also, too, the 22 films from pre-90s is higher than it was on my previous list (though probably proportionate to the size of the list).
