From my February 2010 list...an ode to the dearly departed. These are the films that have made room to the new discoveries these past 30 months as a Filmspotter. There's a few old/obscure films there, but it's definitely a lot of more general fare that has made way for more eclectic stuff.

Ran
Brokeback Mountain
Donnie Darko
Star Wars
The Full Monty
Slumdog Millionaire
Amazing Grace
The Dark Knight
Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams
The Eye
Into The Wild
Hard Candy
Saved
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Life Is Beautiful
Big Fish
Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix
The Invention of Lying
All the President’s Men
The Business of Being Born
Austin Powers
Hero
The Kite Runner
Starship Troopers
The 40 Year Old Virgin
Breakfast on Pluto
Definitely, Maybe
Say Uncle
Veer-Zaara
The General
The Hamburg Cell
Iron Jawed Angels
The Garden
Life as a House
Towelhead
Kundun
12 Monkeys
Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner
Munich
Two Spirits
Amistad
Shaun of the Dead
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Keeping Mum
What Dreams May Come
A.I.
Sex and Lucia

Most of those (that I've seen) are better off gone, but I hate to see Ran fall off.

Having said that, it's in danger of dropping off mine too.

I've just grown much more negative toward Kurosawa overall. He had three in my top-100 at one point and now has none. Ran was a top-25 sort of pick coming in but the last rewatch would place it fourth among Kurosawa.

I don't think Red Beard or Seven Samurai will ever fall off my top 100.  And though Ran has never made it to my top 100, I'm re-considering it for my list this year.

Lots of fun stuff on there. Especially nice seeing Hard Day's Night so high up. I've got it about top 30 on mine.

@George96: You've got a crazy mix there that makes me soooo happy to see, especially today! It's a well needed change to that S&S poll, which I believe is a snooze fiest. This list makes me enthusiastic about seeing more movies. All sorts of movies. Old and new. Arthouse and blockbusters.
Cheers!

The 20xx's have a strong presence on your list, much more so in the bottom half than the top though.

No judgement, just an observation. :)

I've seen more movies from this time. I'm seeing more newer releases while playing catch-up with the years I wasn't alive for. And a lot of them just happen to be great!
