Great list Sandy, I guess you like period dramas. Also a first for any of the lists 2 different versions of the same story Jane Eyre (at #1 and #70), this could also be argued for having both The Wizard of Oz and The Wiz.

You did not say which version of True Grit, and is Penelope the one with Christina Ricci? I heard a lot of bad reviews of it, so skipped it, but perhaps I should watch it.

3   Sense and Sensibility (1995)

Wow, interesting! I adore your #1 and #3, but was completely unconvinced by this version of P&P.

I really should rewatch Jane Eyre, and if my reaction is anything like what it was in the theatre, I may have to put it in my own TOP 100, despite it being so new and the 5th (6th?, 7th? ... ) version of the story that I've seen.

I love how much literature, music and romance there is in your list, but I am especially happy about these:

6   Singin' in the Rain
29   Casablanca
34   The Shop Around the Corner
41   Gattaca
57   It Happened One Night
60   Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
80   Bright Star
92   Mary Poppins
93   The Remains of the Day

3   Sense and Sensibility (1995)

I think Sandy just loves the English countryside :). Many of the locations for the top two films are within 30 minutes drive of Sheffield. I'm so lucky to live here.

I still haven't seen the 2011 version of Jane Eyre, something I must rectify.

The Skin I Live In fan club, in the house!

Apart from that 3 or 4 films in common. I thought long and hard about Hedwig, so it 100 and a half.

Only 3 or 4 in common with Sandy as well. Zoinks.

Sandy: I think your list has more joy and laughs than anyone else's.  (Except for Gettysburg.  Good film, but no so much joy)

Lobby: I love your film "sensibility".  Almost all the films on your list are among my favorites, even if many don't make my personal top 100.

And both of you put Gattica, which I just watched the other night at your recommendation.  It was great!  I loved how the science and fun technology took a back seat to the human drama.  Won't make my top 100, but I will highly recommend it to others.

@VerbALs: Including such a new movie is a bit tricky, but to me it feels like a modern classic. I expect it to remain on my list for a very long time. It's not a movie you forget quickly.

@Oldkid: Thanks! My list is not by any means worthy a true film buff; it's pretty down to earth and easily digested. But I feel pretty happy about it. It feels as if it represents "me" and not the taste of someone else if you get what I mean. No pretence.

It took me ages to see Gattaca, don't particularly like Ethan Hawke or Uma Thurman, but when I finally for around to it I loved it as well. Love human stories set in sci fi settings.

I toyed with putting The Skin I Live In on my list but it just got nudged out. But I agree it is one that stays with you for awhile, could very well move into the Top 100 on another viewing.
