This pisses the hell out of my lesbian friends. Unfortunately, I think the same gender biases that are true for the heterosexual world hold for the homosexual world. The glass celling is fully intact, be it straight or gay.

some good choices here

but one that hasnt been mentioned is the taiwanese film eternal summer



which i thought was at times a little bit clumsy, but overall very well done

But this is the same theory held years ago when male directors and advertising etc. believed women wanted to see men as lead characters and didn't need female leads.  Its not really about the gender biases so much as being represented.  People like to identify with the characters they see and gender plays a huge part in that.

No love for F—king Amal in this thread yet?  Weird.  Water Lilies is pretty good, too.

And, back to the guys, I hear good things about Like Grains of Sand, and I'm still waiting to hear about the merits of Okoge and I Like You, I Like You Very Much — among others.  :)
