Witnessed the birth of my newest nephew.

You were in the room!?  What a good sister (in-law?) you are!   Name?  Weight?

Congrats, oad. I would have to turn my head away if I was in the room though. I saw one of those birthing videos in middle school health class. Yuckzilla.

Yesterday I watched a few episodes of Jersey Shore with my mom and brother. I don't think they 'get' the 'show.' I also let my roommate borrow a video game.

That's so cool, oad! Is everybody doing well?

Thanks! Yes, everybody's very well. This is my sister-in-law's 4th home birth, the second one I've been able to attend. (She was my closest college friend before she became my sister-in-law.) There's no name yet (they were rather expecting a girl!), but he was a healthy 8 lbs. 4 oz. And FLY, the yuck factor is minuscule compared to the gratitude I feel in being a watcher/helper not a doer. ;)

Home births are nice and the yuck factor is reduced from a hospital birth.  That's my experience. Much more friendly, less formally sterile context.

Yes, true. Something about being in a home makes the whole thing normal - I love my sister-in-law's midwife, too; she's a serene, warm presence.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.

So great!  Thanks for sharing these!  Love to see how many smiling faces a baby can bring to a room! :)
