I chatted up the cute girl working the deli counter and smiled to myself afterwards. I resisted the urge to make meat-related sexual innuendoes because I'm a gentleman.

Worked in my garden and planted kale, chard, broccoli, and cabbage starts.

I can't wait to garden! The planting season here in Montana starts a bit later, though. But I just found out that I can purchase a plot from Graduate Housing. I am stoked.

Have you planted kale and chard before? I've never done that.
Yeah, our planting season does start a bit earlier though I was a little nervous about planting yesterday. But I figure I'm pretty safe now that it's April, and chard and kale are especially hardy.

I did chard last year, and we enjoyed it all summer - so good as very quick side dish. I often prepare it by first slicing the leaves and stems, then heating on med-high some olive oil (1-2 T.) in a largeish saucepan that has a lid, then browning 1-2 whole garlic cloves for a minute or so in the oil, then adding the chard all at once and covering it quickly with the lid. I stir it or shake it once or twice while it's cooking, and it's done in just a few minutes, basically when it's fairly wilted. So yummy with the olive oil and garlic flavor.

How cool that you can get a garden plot! What are you hoping to plant?

Oh, my goodness. That chard sounds amazing. I might have to plant some kale. It's so good with hot sauce.

I'm going to keep pretty simple. Tomatoes, definitely. Who wants a hothouse tomato? Probably summer squash and wax beans. I need to ask around and see if scallions will survive here.  I'm excited!

It's very hard to get a picture because it's stretched out down the hallway, which isn't terribly well lit.  I'm going to try to take a little video clip of it on Sunday (I'm coming in to get some stuff done when no one is around) and if that works, I'll post the link to it here.

I keep thinking of more people I should have included--Wiggum I totally didn't think about, but also have been reminded of the guy from Dragnet, Sheriff Lobo and the cops from Dukes of Hazzard.  I did leave out Vic from the Shield (I used CCH Pounder instead because her chracter is one of the more ethical ones) and Dirty Harry because a lot of cops hate both of those guys, and I also avoided ones that were too silly.  For some reason cops do seem to love Andy Griffith and Barney Fife though.

Anyway, it was a bright spot in a pretty dim week so that's a good thing.

My dad's favorite show of all time is Andy Griffith. What is it with you people?

It's not me!  I've never watched the show!

My favorite old school cop show is Adam 12...
