Adorable Tim!  Also, gumboot, my new favorite Aussie word.

You don't use the term gumboot in the US?

What term do you use, Wellington boot?

I had never heard it, but that doesn't mean it isn't used.  I would say we use the term rainboots or galoshes.

I've always said rubber boots or rain boots. My friends who grew up on farms, especially dairy farms, said barn boots. I'm pretty sure I've heard gum boots before - not sure where though. I remember being introduced to the term Wellington/Wellies via James Herriot when my dad read me his books when I was young.

We also have a big gumboot in Australia ;)

(actually we have a lot of big things here - over 150 according to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia's_big_things)

Poor WA, we seem to lack in the big department, I've seen the Big Banana and the Giant Ram......... though I think both times may have been accidents.

October: a Sherman Alexie short story collection (we're not sure which yet: War Dances, Ten Little Indians, The Toughest Indian in the World, or Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven - any opinions?)

Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven was pretty disappointing, I thought, despite the appealing title. Haven't read the others.

Update: We're going to be reading Ten Little Indians.

Not yesterday, but last year: my top 100 looked pretty cool.

It won't this year.  :(

I will still love this years list though, no matter what. Just thought you'd like to know.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.
