5. I smoked weed backstage with Willie Nelson, in my youth, not his.

I haven't read any other posts yet but you by far have the best encounter.

Unfortunately, he's no friend or acquaintance of mine. He might be a bastard in other ways, but I sorta doubt it.  He's stays mellowed-out most of the time.

I was a P.A. on a no-budget movie called Skin Art and got to give Kirk Baltz a ride from Brooklyn to Westchester.  This was while Reservoir Dogs was in theaters (and I had just seen it).  Only time I've ever enjoyed a drive to or from Brooklyn.  Jeez, thinking back on it, I practically chewed his ear off.   ::)
Nice pay-off (this forum needs a drum roll/cymbal crash noise) once I looked up who the guy was! I mean that's fame right there. He acts the crap out of that role.
I used to encourage everyone I knew to make art; I don't do that so much anymore. - Banksy

Well, people I at least consider celebrities  :P

Talked to in person while working on a TV interview show- Danny Boyle, Alice Eve, Krysten Ritter

Sightings/events...

Saw in street, restaurant, theater, etc.- Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez, athlete Alex Rodriguez, Cameron Diaz, Terrence Howard, Patton Oswalt (had gone to a performance of his the other night), Zac Efron

Saw at NY Comic-Con
-Speaking at panels- McG, Jared Padelecki, Derek Mears, Chris Evans, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, producer Kevin Feige, Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana, Joe Wright (asked a question), James Franco, Danny McBride, Thomas McCarthy David Gordon Green, Justin Theroux, Joel Edgerton, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Eric Christian Olsen.
-Sighting- Tim Roth, Bill Hader

Have seen speak/Q&A- Production designer Bridgette Boch, cinematographer Ellen Kuras, Spike Lee (asked a question), John Boorman, Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, director Drake Doremus, Felicity Jones, Lee Daniels, Jason Reitman, director Troy Duffy, Jay Cocks, writer Jim Taylor, Aaron Sorkin, Jonah Hill, director Jared Hess.

More are coming to me as I type this. But yeah, a lot of sightings/events. Not really 'encounters' per se.

Zac Efron

That's the best one.

Story behind that was I coming home from college in Boston and my Dad picked me up at Penn Station in NYC. We were driving past the Ed Sullivan Theater and Efron was on Letterman. They had finished taping and he walked out a side door to avoid the crowds (which there still was quite a few people). So I'm sitting in traffic and Efron's car (he's in the back) is next to mine with the window down for about twenty minutes until they made a right.

I met Rian Johnson after a screening of The Shining, and did a poor job of containing my fan-boyness. I'm not quite sure what to say to people I admire in public.  I didn't want to bother him too much, because he was with others, so I just said I love Brick and think Looper looks terrific.
