Most of the famous people I've met are boring politicians from the '90s. Highlights: shaking hands with Bill Clinton once during each of his two campaigns (I was a volunteer motorcade driver during his campaign trip to Phoenix in 1996; I had his press secretary and personal physician in my van -- I bet they both had some good stories, but I didn't ask), and having cocktails with Janet Napolitano (before she embarked on her political career).

As you might expect, Phoenix, Arizona, is not exactly a hotbed of Hollywood celebrity sightings. We saw Tom Hanks at a Morton's once. That's all I got. But I'm not exactly vigilant when it comes to celeb-spotting.

However, in college I attended a master class led by David Raksin (look him up) and once tussled over the playlist at a party with Barry Bonds. (When I tell this story to friends, I make it sound like I and the future single-season homerun king actually came to blows; it was actually more of an amusing misunderstanding.)

Met my company's CEO today, Charles Phillips. If that counts.

I met former Gov. Richardson (NM) at an Obama campaign event that I worked. During campaigns it is actually quite easy to meet most politicians at most levels except probably President. And if you are Iowan, it is really more of an accomplishment not to meet the future President.

Had my picture taken with Sasha Cohen (the figure skater)...other figure skaters too but that is less significant.

Had former CU Buff (Butkus Award winning LB and National Champion) and former Broncos DL (two time Super Bowl champion) Alfred Williams at my house. I was across the street at a friend's house though and my mom didn't think to call to have me come back home. One of the worst moments of my life obviously. #yearsoftherapy

Oh, I forgot: I ran into Curt Schilling on the 4 train coming back from Yankee Stadium (yes, apparently Curt Schilling liked to take public transportation; he was with two other, less-famous, members of the Diamondbacks pitching staff). This would've been in 2002, during an interleague series between Arizona and New York (the season following Arizona's defeat of the Yankees in the World Series). Yes, I was in town for that series partially to gloat.

Christina Hendricks has walked by twice on the lot where I'm working.

Not disappointed.

Oooh... I went to see "Into the Woods" (a theatrical version) at the Wallis Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills two weeks ago and spotted former Calif. Gov. Gray Davis and the guy who played Tuvok on "Star Trek: Voyager." Given the milieu, there might've been other celebrities that I didn't recognize.
