Tonight I attended the premiere of Inside Out at the Hollywood El Capitan Theater. The funniest celebrity story is that my wife approached Patton Oswalt in a store before the event. He was very dismissive, but later when they accidentally ran into each other in the VIP area, he was apologetic. Celebrities act differently when they realize you might be someone important.
They also act differently depending on if they want to be noticed or not. Johnny Knoxville (who shared our table) and Mario Lopez were all about waving to the crowd and being seen (though not actually approaching the fans.) Meanwhile, Billy Crystal tried hard not to be recognized and Minnie Driver ignored their existence completely.
There were a lot of Pixar animators at the event, though the only core member I saw (and shook hands with) was director Pete Docter. In the theater, I sat alongside Jeff Garland who was next to Richard Kind. Rashida Jones and Bill Hader recognized me - I seem to work on one of their shows every 3 years - so that was cool.
