I went down for a late lunch to Jo's diner on 2nd Street last week after the SXSW crowds died down (having a bad day at work, needing some good karma), and in front of me in line were Josh Homme and Dean Fertita (QOTSA). (It's a little strange standing right next to two people you've seen perform live in some large venue at some point in your life.) Nobody else was there so when they were done ordering a couple of teas, my impulsive instinct took over I asked if I could get their check ("I'm a fan" is all I said). They seemed surprised, made a joke, shook my hand, and said thanks; but I was still wondering whether it was a jerk move - I'm sure they just want to be left alone.
