Top 100 actors/actresses
« on: November 20, 2009, 04:55:11 PM »
I think it's about time to do another top 100 list, and just want to throw out this topic as one idea. How about it? Too soon? Or do you think we should try a different topic?
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

I'm down with this, but only after Top Performances.  I'm down with any list, really.

I think Edgar was working on a something similar, his top 100 performances thing. I'm down for anything though, we have until I believe May or June before it's time for the next top 100 animated films.

I suggested this very topic a couple times and it keeps getting sidetracked (albeit for valid reasons). Maybe if 'Noke takes care of it it will actually happen. I really like the idea.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

If nothing is done soon, people might want to push it back again because of a Best of the Decade list.

If you were talking about Top Performances, I've been doing my part in posting threads for Best Performances By Decade.  Was just waiting for you to broach the subject again.

Imagine my shock when I enter this thread for the first time and this is the first actor's name I see.

Some names into the hat:

Clint Eastwood
Meryl Streep
Jodie Foster
Bruno Lawrence (ok most will not have heard of him, but watch 'The Quiet Earth', 'UTU', or 'Smash Palace' a rubbish film, but he shines)
Michael Sheen
Katharine Hepburn
Steve Buscemi
Harry Dean Stanton

Harder to pick the non-english speaking ones:

Toshirô Mifune
Jacques Tati

I agree Top 100 performances is a better list than Top 100 actor/actresses.

it seems like a performances list would have way too much to consider. Whoever is counting all the votes up will probably see some actors get nominated for over 20 different movies!

It would also be a nightmare sorting out what is lead and what is supporting for every performance that might be nominated (if that is going to happen).
