The Official Filmspotter's Top 100 Performances Thread
« on: November 22, 2009, 09:39:50 AM »
Alright,

The lists can include any performance in a movie. Lead, supporting, doesn't matter. We're going to split it into two 50 place lists, one female, one male. The lists can be any length from one male performance to two top twenty lists for both male and female. The lists cannot exceed more then twenty places (for male and female each). Also, Please rank them!!

The scoring system is going to be a mix of the Director and top films scoring system. #20 will get ten points. #19 will get 11. etc, etc. But every five places there'll be and extra jump of one place, so say #16 will get 14 points, but #15 will get 16 points. And so on.

The deadline for entries is Wed Feb 03rd, with the results announced that weekend, hopefully.

Please PM me your lists or email them to filmspottersperformances09@gmail.com.

And if you have any objections with any of this, just tell me.

Also, to help you with your lists, Verite has started a couple of threads with the best performances of each decade over here.

What is the favourite? I'm guessing Jake La Motta.

I guess so. Female favourite is Meryl Streep in anything.

I'm guessing Bogart in Casablanca.

I'd rather have seen a combined list of male and female performances from Filmspotters, but it's too late now.  However, I think after compilation of each list, 'Noke could combine the Top 10s of each, and rank them according to point total.

It's not too late for anything.

I'm just thinking that the list will be mostly male dominated but I'm up for whatever.

Sadly, that might end up being the case.  Separate lists are probably best then.

By all means go ahead. I doubt any voice work will make it into the top 100 but you can put it on your list if you want. Also, you do have to deal with whether to go with dubbed or subbed performances if you're going with ghibli or other foreign animation. I'm guessing subbed, though I always watch it dubbed.

I would prefer to do one combined list and let the chips fall where they may.

When do I start campaigning for Delphine Seyrig as Jeanne Dielman?
