    Targets (1968)
    Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
    Easy Rider (1969)
    Medium Cool (1969)
    Midnight Cowboy (1969)
They Shoot Horses, Don't They (1969)
    Wild Bunch, The (1969)
    Five Easy Pieces (1970)
    Little Big Man (1970)
    MASH (1970)
    Patton (1970)
    Wanda (1970)

    Cabaret (1972)
    Candidate, The (1972)
    Deliverance (1972)
    Fat City (1972)
    Godfather, The  (1972)
    American Graffiti (1973)
    Badlands (1973)

    Manhattan (1979)
    Raging Bull (1980)
    Shining, The (1980)
    They All Laughed (1981)

Have I missed an important one? Should some of the movies not be on the list? I put the French New Wave films on the list as an "origin story" and Jaws because of the impact it had on New Hollywood. Would add Star Wars too, but can't subject myself to that again..

I'm also looking for suggestions on books about New Hollywood. I've gotten "The Last Great American Picture Show" and "Scenes From A Revolution" (and "Easy Riders, Raging Bulls"..), but I'm looking for something a bit more.. complete.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure Kramer vs. Kramer belongs, unless you're just including all the Best Picture winners for reference.  In the Heat of the Night definitely belongs, in my opinion, especially if you're reading Scenes from a Revolution.  You might even want to give Dr. Doolittle a look, in that regard.

Films I've Seen and Recommend

Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson
Heaven's Gate
Hi, Mom! (instead of Sisters, for my money)
In Cold Blood

Film I Haven't Seen

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
A New Leaf
One from the Heart
The Wanderers

Other people like Point Blank more than I do.

I think I'd love how awkward it'd be, or how awkward it should be.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations, I'm adding all the mentioned movies to the list. I've read mostly bad things about Heaven's Gate but I'm putting it back in. =)

I haven't started reading Scenes from a Revolution yet. Other than The Last Great American Picture Show I've also began reading a book on Billy Wilder's movies and two on Kurosawa (reading as I'm going though their entire filmographies), so I'm saving it and Dr. Doolittle for once I'm done with this marathon.

I haven't actually seen Kramer vs Kramer (among many other movies on the list). I think I added it because it was in the New Hollywood Wikipedia article, which might not be a very reliable source. I'll keep it in either way as it is a pretty major movie I haven't seen yet.
