and though I like Louis C.K. well enough, I've been a bit mystified by the love his new show is getting. I gave up after about four episodes.

I often have that feeling after reading your posts  :D

I can't bring myself to watch any of those Showtime dramedies. I'm not yet sure if this means I'm a big sexist or not.

What, Weeds/The Big C? I gave up on Weeds at some point in season 3 (and stopped watching some point in season 4). The Big C stars an age appropriate character delivery device...which now that I think about it is probably a sexist way to describe a woman.

What, Weeds/The Big C?
Yeah, and Tara and Jackie.

Yeah, and Tara and Jackie.

Didn't like what I watched of Tara (first disc I think)...Jackie is fairly enjoyable though. Seen the first two seasons of that.

I haven't seen any of those. It could be great for all I know but whether it's fair or not, Weeds and Tara have made me suspicious of all Showtime shows staring a brand name leading lady.

Me too. I quit Weeds halfway through Season 4 (like right before they got to Mexico I think). Watched a couple episodes of Tara and didn't care for it at all. Nothing about The Big C or Nurse Jackie leads me to believe I need to bother with them.

Yeah, although I always feel like I shouldn't be ignoring these shows because I do like the stars. Even Linney.

I never made it through season 1, which is long before everybody started hating it. In fact the ridiculousness that it is now almost appeals to me more than the quirky suburban thing it was originally...almost.

In the last few months I've revisited seasons 1, 2, 4, and (part of) 6 of The Sopranos. I now don't think The Wire is as far ahead of it as I would have said before recently re-watching these episodes.
