I watched Hell on Wheels.  I'd say it had potential, but it seems a bit like The Walking Dead trying to masquerade as Deadwood.

I didn't watch but I do plan to check it out. Sepinwall and Fienberg kept criticizing it for not being as good as Deadwood, which seems pretty unfair.

I had a lot of problems with it and won't be checking it out again. It's not terrible, just annoying (to me, at least). (For example, the main character had slaves, but freed them after learning the error of his ways from his Northern wife. Very convenient.)

I don't really see the problem with that.

I'd say it's closer to DEADWOOD, by way of (early) BOARDWALK EMPIRE, with a hint of JUSTIFIED...all shot like a credit card commercial.

A pretty disappointing pilot, especially for a show I've been eagerly anticipating for at least a year now. I might give it another episode or two, but man...

I seem to say this every week I get caught up, but I'll do it in a different thread this time. Boardwalk Empire is damn good and continues to impress me on a weekly basis.

If you had told me a year ago that BOARDWALK EMPIRE was going to get this good, I would have laughed at you. Much like I did during this past season of BREAKING BAD, I keep waiting for the dip, but it never comes. This show is really hitting its stride right now.

I really enjoyed Page Eight which had a stellar cast (Judy F*ckin' Davis, Michael Gambon, Bill Nighy, Ralph Fiennes, Rachel Weisz) and wonderful cinematography by Martin Ruhe!

To those interested, it's available to watch online over at PBS' Masterpiece site here.

PBS Masterpiece Classic, Mystery, and Contemporary have been great this year.

Thank you Verite. I abandoned my homework and housework and enjoyed every moment of it.
