Blood Meridian is the best book I've read this year, maybe ever read.  It's a tough read, but no one can create a world and inhabit it with characters as well as Cormac McCarthy can.  All you guys would love it.

whats it about clovis?

It's a non-fiction book looking at what would happen to the earth if every human was gone.

How can it be a non-fiction book that examines a fictional event?

Looks/sounds interesting. I may try to get my hands on a copy.

One of the most interesting books I have read in some time. Discovery made a series on it also which is quite good.

This is a very good book....read it in 2 sittings.

I haven't read nearly enough this year (New Years resolution here I come!) but the book that really stuck with me, and the one I passed along as birthday and Mothers Day gifts and recommended to bunches of people is The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  For a first novel, this hit it out of the park.

I couldn't give that one to my mother because she "appeared" in it several times. ;)

For reals?  Or just a character sort of like her?

I enjoyed reading The Help.  I did have a nagging feeling that the author was working really hard to make her case.  That was probably the style, shifting among the several stories.

My daughter-in-law loved it. Like you, Colleen, she recommends it to everyone and bought it for me.
