added Clarkson & Powter.

No Gnarls?

And "I Gotta Feeling" is making a strong late push.

I went with Gold Digger, I recall hearing that one more than any other song on the list when it was really popular, even more than Hey Ya.

Gold Digger didn't quite have that crossover appeal where people of all generations liked it, most likely because of the cursing and subject matter (Hey Ya is not quite so overt about being dirty).

For me its a toss up between "Hey Ya" and "Yeah!"

Not sure what was more prevalent - Li'l John impressions (aided by Chapelle Show) or shaking it like a polaroid picture.

I just heard "Mr. Brightside" on the radio.  Not sure how high it ever charted, but it seems like it'd fit in on this list pretty well.

edit: Per Wikipedia:

Quote
In 2009 it was voted at Number 2 in UK radio station XFM's 100 Greatest Songs Of All Time [4] and later that year was voted XFM's Greatest Song Of The Decade.

On December 9 , 2009 it was again voted Song Of The Decade this time by another UK station Absolute Radio

The time it came in second was to Oasis' "Live Forever" — which sort of nullifies that whole list.

I'm not really a top 40 listener at all, but I remember hearing "Yeah!" to the point of absurdity, more than any other song on this poll. How many times do you have to hear a CINECAST!ing song?

Maybe "Let It Burn" should be on the poll as well.

Single Ladies could very well make a late run for it.

My vote is probably with Crazy tho. As much as I understand why people are voting Hey Ya, I feel like Crazy was literally everywhere for at least six months and still has a sustained presence. Hey Ya hasn't been around as much in the following years.

The problem here is that all these songs are so utterly disposable, that by the time the next one came along the previous one was already mostly forgotten. In that sense not on of these songs defines the decade more than another.

Also, I didn't know Anna from The O.C. was in the Bad Day video. She is pretty.

That's true, though I think Hey Ya will stand the test of time, and Mr Brightside/Beautiful Day are more like anomalys compared to the other pop hits (I know mr birghtside isnt up there but, come on.)

Also, I really like B.O.B. by Outkast.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

Gold Digger and Hey Ya are many things, disposable isn't one of them.
