You just had to throw that in to pique my interest, didn't you?

I totally screwed up.  I've been too active with real life this last weekend.  Can I participate?  Please  ;D

I'll partner up with you if nobody else wants in.

That'd be great, if you don't mind doubling up.  Or you can just dictate to me, if you like.

I'm going to be cramming 09 films anyway. The more the merrier I say!

yeah, i think that is the only reason this film will get watched by cinephile types - the cinematography works wonderfully/hauntingly with the (based on a true) story.  the acting by Bello, Patric, and Sewell is also all very good.  that said, this is one film that i wouldn't recommend to just anyone.  i think Clovis is open to difficult material, and the discussion we had around (female) sexuality with Antichrist will make this an interesting comparative.  Bellow's character is a submissive that was sexually abused as a child.  the character understands this abuse as something she wanted and appreciated.  this film is one of the most disturbing and challenging i have experienced, but also quite beautiful.
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

funny, i was just looking for a thread to wonder if i'd go to this tonight.  cold here, i wanna stay inside, but it has a week-long run at the Siskel (ending Thursday, probably my fave (comfort and location-wise) venue in the city).  i think this makes be just a bit more likely

fyi, that is not the year's best doc.  it was fine, but a bit traditional as far as form and content goes, don't you think?  The Horse Boy gets my support for year's best.  is Herb & Dorothy this year? (i know it is "2008", but i have no idea when it was where) - it is far better.  No Impact Man, The Yes Men Fix the World. i'm sure there are a few that i have yet to see that i'd like more - Beaches of Agnes, Must Read After My Death...
