Hey everyone, just finished my piece on the top 10 movies of 2009. Would love to hear some thoughts.

Link is right here.

Umm is it just something on my end or is there no link (anymore maybe).

Though I do have to add to the lack of love for Summer Hours. Meh...just meh. Also I don't know if the theater I saw it in had some strange copy of it or I'm just half blind but I had such ridiculous difficulty reading the subtitles. They were WHITE on bright WHITE background for many outdoor conversations. I almost walked out about 20 minutes in simply because I could not make out about half what they were saying. Thankfully though the mother died and everything god rainy and bleak though some scenes still gave me trouble.
Is it just me? I can't be the only one to have such trouble.

I just watched this through Netflix streaming and had no problem with the subtitles at all.  Weird that it was so hard for you to see them.

Yeah, I've had struggles with a few films on Netflix streaming for subtitles...Summer Hours wasn't one of them.

Out of curiosity I just went and watched a small bit on netflix instant yea thats completely fine.

I think the subtitles I saw had no black outline on the letters and was a 'softer' white so it blended perfectly with what the mother is wearing in the earlier scenes. Anyone saw it in theaters and can confirm/deny this experience?

Revised my top 10 a bit (took out a few festival pictures that I decided should count as 2010). One of the main differences is how much Inglorious Basterds and (500) Days have risen in my estimation even without revisiting them.

1. The Girlfriend Experience
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. Ink
4. In The Loop
5. The Hurt Locker
6. The Invention of Lying
7. Summer Hours
8. Zombieland
9. (500) Days of Summer
10. The Cake Eaters
HM: Avatar, Star Trek, Up In The Air

Sometimes, Bondo, you break me. But that number one, it pleases me immensely.

I don't think I've even heard of The Cake Eaters. Is that one of the elusive good performances by Kristen Stewart?

I refuse to believe that such a thing exists.
