Not much to discuss. Pretty predictable

Well, they all deserve it. Should the DGA nominate people who don't deserve it just for the novelty of it?

So, Lee Daniels getting nominated is just a big practical joke right?

I'd say getting absolutely stunning performances out of actors counts as a part of directing.

I agree, getting good performances out of the actors does count as good direction.  I still think it's a prank.  You must be in on it.

There's great stuff, visually, in Precious. It's just buried, partially, in a sea of generic stuff. I recall many shots of just the city, trees and telephone poles with water, that were fantastic. It just seemed the Daniels was held back most of the time.

I wonder which five directors will earn Filmspot nominations this year.

Man this is a predictable year, no matter which Awards group you look at.

I don't think Marc Webb is gonna get nominated. Lone Scherfig anyone?
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

It is the Directors' Guild of America.

So Nina Paley should definitely have been up there.

Nina Paley

Damn, I should really start prioritizing what I watch before Filmspot nomination ballots are due.  Three and a half weeks isn't a very long time.
