Just bought tickets to see the New Pornographers in June!  I saw them a few years ago and they were awesome, but Neko Case wasn't with them.  This time, the whole line-up is touring.  Hooray!

Not sure this belongs here, but oh well.

Went to see some live comedy tonight. Opener was Gabe Kea, a local guy originally from Canada. I had seen him before and he is a decent opener. Then the feature act was David Huntsberger who was really funny. I think I had seen him once before, I really like his type of humor. It's kind of a smart kind of humor, the topics he deals with, but I just liked him. Then the headliner was Eddie Gossling who I have loved since I first saw him. I don't know what to say but he is hilarious.

The last concert I went to was last year - Sunny Day Real Estate.

I've since had a child, so it's hard for me to get out and about like I used to!

After being drug by the Mrs. to a couple of shows I had little interest in (Metallica and Guns N Roses), we're finally going to a show I'm excited about Saturday: Social Distortion.

My last concert was back in November: Regina Spektor. It was solid though I wouldn't put it near the top as a concert goes. Opening act was Jupiter One who I really dug. They've kind of got an 80s prog rock vibe with moments of Alan Parsons Project IMO.

Top ten concerts:
1. Brandi Carlile (w/ A Fine Frenzy)
2. Death Cab For Cutie (w/ Mates of State)
3. Tegan and Sara
4. The Killers (in a very small venue)
5. The New Pornographers
6. Mile High Music Festival 08 (Dave Matthews Band, John Meyer, One Republic, Brett Dennan and new discovery Alberta Cross)
7. Green Day (w/ Franz Ferdinand)
8. Elton John
9. Regina Spektor (w/ Jupiter One)
10. Mike Hayden (w/ Shades of Amber) (very local...was drinking beers with them after)

Awesome, I saw them back in 2007. It was an interesting experience because I hadn't really listened to them at the time (went with a friend) and while I was at the concert I was like "I can't wait to go home and listen to the CD," which isn't to disrespect the live performance which in hindsight was really great, but a comment on the fact that knowing the material aids in the appreciation and I wanted to know it better so I could appreciate it better.

Hmm. Yeah, I saw them at Pitchfork last year. And, granted, a festival concert is way different than a regular show, but it was really kind of a mess. The whole band was there, including Dan Bejar, who came over straight after doing a Destroyer show (that I also watched). Basically, Carl had to spend the whole time trying to keep Dan on stage, and, when Dan was on stage, he was drinking beers while singing, and not really making much of an effort. I guess that's what happens when you make your albums by compiling tracks from across the continent, and you don't practice together. Anyway, I still love Electric Version and Twin Cinema.

I've seen them 3 times now and somehow never with Neko.
