Really? I had not heard of her before. I may have to check it out for sure now.

:D I just realized I was thinking of another person named Alela Diane.

I'm sorry, Corndog. But you should check out Alela Diane.

After being drug by the Mrs. to a couple of shows I had little interest in (Metallica and Guns N Roses), we're finally going to a show I'm excited about Saturday: Social Distortion.

Wow I'm so glad you mentioned Social D, that prompted me to check out the tour dates and I discovered tickets for a show 3 hours from here.... and NOTHING is 3 hours from here. :-)
Now I've gotta see if I can get some time off to make it happen.

The last concert I went to was The Dropkick Murphy's in Boston. AMAZING show!

and for once I truly had a reason to love youtube, within a day of the show I was able to find nearly half of it online.

I think my Pitchfork schedule for today will look something like this:

1:55 Sonny & The Sunsets
then tight schedule
2:50 Kurt Vile, though I might skip him to catch 30 min of Titus Andronicus at 3:20 before going to
3:45 Dam-Funk, and can only catch 20 min of him before
4:15 Raekwon, want to see Smith Westerns at 4:45 but they're from Chicago so they'll be back
5:15 maybe Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, but probably food
6:15 Wolf Parade
7:25 Panda Bear
8:30 LCD Soundsystem

Stuck to this schedule pretty well. Dam-Funk started late and made me miss more of Raekwon than I had hoped, but it worked out. Blues Explosion were pretty great, as were Wolf Parade. Panda Bear was fine but was putting me to sleep. LCD was excellent, but I was disappointed that we didn't get Dance Yrself Clean and closing with New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down in Chicago was a little weird (though they did break into Empire State of Mind for a minute during it).

Tomorrow for me looks like:
1:45 Cass McCombs (if I feel like getting there that early) otherwise my day will start at
3:20 Beach House
4:15 Lightning Bolt
5:15 St. Vincent (this is going to be a weird trio of bands for sure)
6:15 Major Lazer or food, mostly because I'll want a good spot for:
7:25 BIG BOI!!!
and of course
8:30 PAVEMENT

Aren't Beach House and Real Estate basically the same band? Also, totally jealous that you're seeing the Saint.

I actually hadn't even listened to Real Estate until last night when deciding if I wanted to see them or not. I like them fine but it wasn't something I was in the mood for that early on a hot day. I think Beach House is probably a little dreamier sounding which should mean that I really won't be in the mood to see them at 3, but I've liked them for a few years now and always miss them live so I feel like I should catch them.

I am pretty sure I watched the Real Estate stream today. They were pretty okay.
