If this were the real thing, that would be Doug’s cue to lose his shit.

I thought we morphed it for forum purposes to people guessing, and then if nobody got it, pixote (or whoever) would provide names, then guesses, then names, etc. etc. until the film is guessed correctly.

Year: 2001
Genre: Comedy Drama
Rating: **½
Names: 20
Snippet: "Great cast and telling details can't mask the film's superficiality, made worse by a poky pace and overlength."

Let's try two names: James Wilby, Emily Watson

Could it be Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?

Tough to think of an Emily Watson film from that far back but I believe she was in some of those HP films. What other movie would have her that deep down the cast list.

Great guess, but no. Let's try a couple more names:

Year: 2001
Genre: Comedy Drama
Rating: **½
Names: 20
Snippet: "Great cast and telling details can't mask the film's superficiality, made worse by a poky pace and overlength."

Names: James Wilby, Emily Watson, Sophie Thompson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Geraldine Somerville, Maggie Smith, Ryan Phillipe

I was thrown by Emily Watson/Emma Watson.

The only film I know that contains both Maggie Smith and Ryan Phillipe is Gosford Park.
