Ok, it's more simple than the title suggests. Books that you've read and now they are making a movie (but still unreleased). Talk about your hopes, what do you think of the cast, if it looks they're gonna screw it up...

- Never Let Me Go (Kazuo Ishiguro), it's hard to talk about this without entering in spoilers (which I'm sure the trailer is gonna be full). Let's say that it looks terrific and I have high hopes for it.

- Norwegian Wood (Haruki Murakami), Could this be the ultimate coming of age movie?

- The Killer Inside Me (Jim Thompson), infamous in the recent Sundance festival. But all the critical points are in the book, so... I think it might turn great.

- Shutter Island (Dennis Lehane), the novel was nothing but a really good pulp/airport novel (with a slightly dissapointing ending). I think it will be really interesting.

- Black Hole (Charles Burns), I think the project is frozen now (David Fincher was in talks a year ago). Check the graphic novel ASAP.

  • Hi there! Feed me worlds!
I'm looking forward to The Hobbit with Del Toro directing and The Lightning Thief.

I am really hesitant about:
The Dragonriders of Pern (There is almost no way they can do this series correctly.  It will turn into some kind of Eragon.  Ugggh.)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (my favorite of the series-- will they ruin this one as badly as the first two?  Probably)
The Screwtape Letters  (What?  There's only the outline of a story there.  What are they going to do?  Put Jim Carey as Screwtape and let him improv?  Please, no....)

The Screwtape Letters could be amazing or the worst thing ever.

On The Road's been in production for a while now but looks like it's been put back again (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0337692/). Last i heard they had Sam "Ian Curtis" Riley in to play either Sal or Dean.

Apparently The Master and Margarita is also in development. I always felt Gilliam might have taken a good stab at it.

There has never been nor will there ever be a more unfilmable book.  That said, i am excited!  Also excited about the Coens making Yiddish Policemen Union.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

Me too! I hope it's not just some TV thing. Behemoth could be one of the all time great movie characters (in addition to literary).

Rumor has it this is getting a Fall 2010 release.

Well, there has been off again, on again discussion of a Jennifer Government film (I think at one point Soderberg/Clooney had optioned it). I think that could be awesome.

That said, I don't read that much fiction, certainly not new fiction, so I don't have a lot to say.
