Though I'm not so presumptuous as to get into my entire A Clockwork Orange rant only a couple days after I joined the forums, but I'm glad that Alex didn't make anyone's top 5 teen rebels, and not only because McDowell was 28 when he played the role (though the character himself is 15!). Alex is anything but a teen rebel - he's the quintessential unthinking teen conformist, which is what both Kubrick and Burgess (but especially Burgess) were trying to get across. Sure, Alex hates his parents, but not for any real reason - it's just what kids do in that London.

Just listerned to the latest show. Good stuff as always guys.

I must admit I did have a quite a giggle to myself, when Adam was talking with the guest caller about date movies and she mentioned 'Taxi Driver'. All I could think of was, when Travis Bickle takes his date Betsy (Cybill Shepherd) to the movies and shall we say his choice of 'date movie' is unconventional to say the least.

Made me laugh anyway.

Also a pity that the top 5 teen rebels could not have been broadened out to include people in their early twenties.
If this was the case then 'Into The Wild' would have had a good chance of being included.

Not rebellious in the traditional sense, but more of a personal, spiritual rebellion.

Regards

Monty.

Hey Adam... you mentioned watching the 1976 King Kong, and you commented on the scene where Kong undresses Jessica Lang. You said something about how uncomfortable that would make young kids... and how odd the whole thing was in general. In fact... this is a direct quote form the original 1933 King Kong where he undresses Fay Wray... then 'tickles' her with his finger... and then SMELLS it. The great Steiner score then has a rather illustrative comment about Kong's reaction. This is in the version with the restored cuts, since this scene was cut in the 38 re release because it was deemed too explicit by the new Production Code of 34.  There is one scene still missing where the men thrown into the valley by Kong are eaten alive by giant spiders. This scene was cut after previews since the audience was too shocked and disturbed by it. It has never been found.  Jackson later put it into his new version of Kong.

I humbly submit one of my favorite teen rebels, Happy Harry Hard-On. Wish I could take the time to explain why I love this film but it's just about quitting time at work! It's also a great for anyone nostalgic for the 90s.

I loved that movie so much as a teenager. I doesn't hold up too well though.

The music is amazing. It introduced me to two of my still favorite bands/musicians. Leonard Cohen and The Pixies.

Now that's got me thinking. May be a Christian Slater teen rebels double bill with 'Heathers' and 'Pump Up The Volume'

Greetings and salutations to all

No, no musical score, completely silent.  You'd have to provide that yourself.  :)

There's probably a Pink Floyd album that would work.  Meddle perhaps
"And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs" - Exodus 8:2 KJV
