How to search the forum

Search Whole Site
If you want to search the whole site for something, one option is to use google.

Use this search string:

"thing you want to search for" site:http://www.filmspotting.net/forum/

Example:

If you want to search for all the instances of Avatar use this:

Avatar site:http://www.filmspotting.net/forum/

If you want to search for a movie/thing with more than one word put them in quotes like this:

"The Hurt Locker" site:http://www.filmspotting.net/forum/

Search Within A Thread
If you want to search only within a specific thread just go to that thread and enter the search term in the search bar at the top. This will search in only that thread.

I am not able to use the search bar on the top right corner. It gives me the following error:

An Error Has Occurred!
You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum.

However, I am able to search using the google method you have suggested, but that is quite painful to type.

Initially, the search function had been disabled to see if it would help prevent server/404 Errors because when the move was made to a new server there were a whole lot of them.  Since then the boards have been very stable.  You're gonna have to use Google or an alternative: hit the print view for smaller sized threads and Ctrl-F your search term(s).  I only notice 404 Errors now when there are a lot of members logged in.

Google searches for the forum hasn't worked for the past 2 days.  Moreover, if you google "Filmspotting" the only related hit is the twitter account and not even the main podcast page.

Bing searches work, though.

Our site was hacked and therefore down for two days.  It's up and running again.  It'll take some time for our Google stats to return.

Yea, for some reason, it stopped working. It's like google just removed filmspotting from their search system for some odd reason.

The odd reason is that the site was hacked.  We're working on getting Google search to work again.  Right now, it doesn't even recognize filmspotting.net.

Do you have a search I can do for you, bromidictirades?  I have some magic fairy dust I can use.
