Makes me wish I wouldn't have rushed my review.  I didn't realize so many members hadn't seen it.  I may do a second review of it over the weekend and try to sell it a bit better.

I'm glad it has at least inspired some of you to seek it out.  Its a lot of fun, and while it doesn't have the sheer number of quotable lines as an 80s Arnold film, the lines that are quotable are really great.

"You want to get out of here? You talk to me." - Max

I've just loved that line, and I love the way Gibson delivers it.

But the first film is recapped in the opening 1.37 sequence, but brilliantly.  It doesn't feel at all like "Last Week on Mad Max!", instead it feels like you are being fed mythology.

That's exactly how I feel about T2 :) I'll watch Mad Max 2 now.

I watched T2 many times before seeing T1 and loved it.  T1 was a huge letdown.
Agreed. T1 is awful.

You people are wrong about everything but T1 especially.  T1 is a brilliant lower budget action film, its has awesome car chases, 80's cheese, and an atmosphere of real fear and uncertainty.  T2 while good in its own way is a big budget mega blockbuster, it jettisons the delightful 80's cheese and dark mood for a polished and mainstream look.  Plus it went all PG by not letting Arnie kill people, and don't get me started on that annoying kid.  NOTHING in T2 is as cool as the police station scene in T1.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

While I agree wholeheartedly with the defense of T1, and I love the police station scene, I have to say that the funny feeling I got whenever Linda Hamilton one-hand-pumped the shotgun in T2 was one of my major clues that my libido was not tuned only to guys.  So I have to give T2 the edge personally.
