Revanche

Seconded.

Unless I'm thinking of the wrong film isn't it an 08 release? Wasn't it nominated for best foreign language oscar in 08?

If the eligibility guidelines for the upcoming Filmspots is the same as it was for the most recent one then, Revanche is eligible because:

1) There wasn't a wide U.S. theatrical release in 2009
2) There was no U.S. DVD release in 2009.
3) The U.S. DVD was released this past February
4) It did not make the 2009 Filmspot Final Nomination Ballot (it made a few individual ballots)

Ahh I see. I feel as though its been on Netflix Instant for a good while before it came out on DVD - I just assumed it was on DVD too.

Again, it does us no good to make a film eligible for the filmspots for a year when almost no one had a chance to see it. We aren't the Academy, we don't get screeners. Thus eligibility is based on the year in which a film becomes relatively widely available, whether in theatres or on DVD.
