Exit Through the Gift Shop beats Animal Kingdom

Abel
Au Revior Tapei
Mary & Max (5 noms for me)

Runaway, waste of time and I'm sure alot a money, Kayne was trying to do Matthew Barney, though with no thought or good music really.

agree on Blue Valentine, though Rubber is Mr Ozio's third feature.

Why is [this film] eligible for Best Debut Feature even though IMDb says it's the director's [nth] film?

The Best Debut Feature category recognizes a director's US theatrical feature debut.  Earlier films that did not receive theatrical distribution in the US do not affect a director's eligibility.

this still the case?

Anyone know if Down To The Bone or Red Road had US theatrical distribution...I'm assuming the former had some amount but maybe not the latter. Either way, I'd definitely nominate Winter's Bone and Fish Tank if they were eligible.
