Top 5 Movie Robots
« on: March 23, 2010, 08:36:43 PM »
Struggling to find non-American ones. What I've come up with so far:

R2D2/C3PO [Star Wars]
Data [Star Trek]
Number 5 [Short Circuit]
Terminator
Wall-E
Tin-Man [Wizard of Oz]
(Replicants) [Blade Runner]
Fembots [Austin Powers]
Maschinenmensch/Maria [Metropolis]

There's the Iron Giant from The Iron Giant. I'd also put in the T-1000 from T2 as it's own entity since he's so different from Arnie. World Iron Man count, or is that disqualified since technically it's a mech suit? How about The Golden robots from Hellboy 2?

The two things I considered were that it had to be created and not transformed (which is where I knocked Robocop off my list; not sure about the Tin-Man though) and real metal/circuits instead of bio-engineering (which, I guess, is where the Replicants go off the list). I guess the Golden Army would be fine then. Dunno how I could forget about The Iron Giant.

Robbie the Robot from Forbidden Planet.

There's two great ones in The Black Hole.  Maximillian is the evil one and I can't remember the other one's name.
