Annie Hall

...But for whatever reason, I was really admiring the humor, but rarely laughing at it. That's the only thing holding me back from completely loving it at this point

I get that.  I'm one of those people pretty iffy on Woody Alllen.  I find the more I concentrate on Annie Hall and Purple Rose of Cairo and ignore the entire rest of his films the more I love him and those two movies.

And that's it! Just in time for the 2010 edition to usher in a bunch more movies I haven't seen! ;)

It's an incredibly clever film. The comedy and filmmaking are ingenious. But for whatever reason, I was really admiring the humor, but rarely laughing at it. That's the only thing holding me back from completely loving it at this point (and I suspect circumstances may have played into it), but I did have a great time with it regardless.

I feel this way about his films as well. They seem to invite meta. Well, they are meta. So, you end up metaing the meta.

I like how so much of the world turns on conversation in Woody Allen's films. But I need to watch Annie Hall again.

You might try Manhattan... I felt as if it were the right follow-up to watching Annie Hall.

Thanks, ferris and tinyholidays! I'll keep Manhattan and The Purple Rose of Cairo in mind for my Woody Allen followups. :)

Fun marathon!  Sorry to see it over.  Have any new projects in the works?

As a matter of fact.... ;D I'm probably going to take a short while to watch some random stuff that I want to see, but I'm already preparing for my next marathon, which I'm looking forward to.

Almost definitely. Usually I need to watch a movie more than once to figure out where it might fall, but all of them have a shot. My top 100 needs extensive re-thinking though, so it's hard to say specifically.

Good policy.  I generally do the same
