Box Office discussion
« on: March 28, 2010, 08:01:04 AM »
Can it be possible that we don't have a thread for this?

Quote from: The Guardian
Over its opening weekend, no more than a dozen people went to see Motherhood, a semi-autobiographical account of stressed-out Manhattan parenting written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann. The film made just £88 on the weekend of Friday 5 March. On its debut Sunday, box office takings were £9, meaning one person bought a ticket.

Delgo remains my favorite.  Especially since a few months later Avatar made billions with an identical story.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

heh, Motherhood bombed all over the world!

on another note Alice In Wonderland is less than a week away from 300 million. Its already Buton's highest grossing film ever.  Amazing what 3D and IMAX can add to a films receipts.

Gonna revive this topic with:

Shrek makes a lot of money this weekend. Don't people remember the 3rd film?

Makes me a sad panda.

They probably do, which is why they went to see the fourth one. That and 3D.

I hope Lucy crushes Hercules and that it sends the message to Hollywood not to be afraid to spend millions on a film starring a woman.

I have no recollection of starting this thread. 2010 was a wild year.

Is Lucy a Hollywood production? I always assume that whatever film has Besson's name attached these days is vaguely European.

And not to make films like Hercules.

I'm pretty sure he's all hollywood. At least, his scripts seem to be passing through the place pretty well.
