I had this brilliant idea inspired by
this post by smirnoff, a manners thread! But this isn't like any boring, typical manners thread, this is going to be a fun one, where anything goes. The idea is that you come in here and state something that you did, or didn't, do or something that you feel isn't done enough in this day and age. It can range from anything being serious to anything sarcastic or slightly outrageous. Let me give a few examples and maybe you will understand what I mean. Oh, and there is one qualifier, you have to end whatever it is you are saying with "...like a gentleman." or "...like a lady."; it just makes it funnier, to me at least.
Using smirnoff's post as an example: "I chatted up the cute girl working the deli counter and smiled to myself afterward. I resisted the urge to make meat-related sexual innuendos like a gentleman."
...this one would be more on the silly side, but it could also be serious, like...
"I took an attractive girl on a lovely date the other night and as I was walking her home and the air became chill, I offered her my jacket like a gentleman."
...or again, something silly like: "In my latest loss in
cornhole, I was gracious in defeat, shaking the hand of my low-life, good for nothing, cheater of an opponent, like a gentleman.
Make sense? I hope so.
Maybe we can all, once again, become upstanding ladies and gentlemen.
