It would most definitely not be this month, perish the thought.

Thinking about a Kaiju Mini-Marathon (oxymoron) for this Shocktober.

I think I'd try this course. The Not Coming To A Theatre Near You website (RIP) had a Godzilla festival some time before they closed and I lasted to Destroy All Monsters! or All Monsters Attack. The question: Should I take it from there or start all over? is up in the air.

I was going to build my own list, including the new Skull Island, assuming it would be on DVD by then. Destroy All Monsters was a definite inclusion along with the original Godzilla and the 1990s Gamera reboot.

That's a good marathon idea, 1SO. :)

I am going to do a mini marathon of samurai movies in the coming weeks if anyone's interested in joining.

Always interested in joining. I'll wait until I see a list.

Will you be focusing on action, or will you consider dramas like Sansho the Bailiff that involve samurai but I don't think draws any swords?

I am rather sword-fight oriented as of now.

You remind me I should check the schedules of the Mizoguchi retrospective...

So I'm thinking about hosting the Top 100 Club, but Teproc also offered.  So I'm wondering if, instead of hosting that, perhaps I could host a monthly marathon, like The May Musical marathon.  Mind you, I wouldn't take over for 1SO in Shocktober or Bondo in Doctember, unless they were tired of it, but I think a group marathon every month might be something people could get excited about.

I know we talked before about monthly marathons, and this is the list the group came up with so far:

Jan/Feb: Filmspots and 2016 catch-up
March: Westerns
April: 2016 Discoveries
May: Music/Musicals
June-Aug: Summer of Hitchcock. This will be started early, but these months will be a more concentrated group marathon.
Oct: Horror
Dec: DOCember

I might recommend a couple changes.

We should have a month focused on 1945 for the Retrospots.  We already have a thread for 1945 reviews, but it might be good to have a specific month focused on Retrospots to give folks some catch up.

Instead of three months on Hitchcock, perhaps we could have one month... July maybe?  Although I'm ready for that one right away, if others are.  Or we can expand it to thrillers?

A month of animated films?   That might be a good companion with Sam's Loony Toons marathon.

Blockbusters might also be good for June?

Are we then drifting away from Noirvember?  Could we focus on crime films in general?

What about a month for comedies?  For movies before 1940?

Any other thoughts?  Or should I just host the Top 100 Club and leave it at that?  What are your thoughts Teproc?
