Exile, barely over Bleed, Sticky and Beggars.  They're all so good.

Exile is my stock answer, but lately I've been smitten with Beggars Banquet. A strong case can also be made for Let It Bleed. I'll get back to you.

Let It Bleed is my stock answer with Beggars close behind. I really need to give Exile some more spins, probably will grab that reissue.

Believe it or not, there was a time in high school when I refused to listen to them as some misguided matter of principle. Kids are so CINECAST!ing dumb.

Sticky Fingers. Once theyd got their act together after Satanic Majesties the next four albums saw them hone their craft to perfection. The only reason i ever vote Sticky Fingers over Exile in stones polls is because i feel Exile tails towards the end. Ive always been a firm believer in the idea that an album should really last no more than 40-something minutes.

Hence Sticky Fingers wins. The production is better on it than Let it Bleed and Beggars and it has more killer tunes.

After Exile its all been downhill, mainly because the songwriting hasnt developed at all.
"What should have been an enjoyable 90 minutes of nubile, high-school flesh meeting a frenzy of blood-caked blades, becomes instead an exploitational and complex parable of the conflicting demands of agrarianism and artistry. I voted a miss."

After listening to Exile a few times recently my position remains unchanged.

1. Beggar's Banquet
2. Exile on Main Street
3. Let It Bleed
4. Their Satanic Majesties Request
5. Aftermath
6. Between the Buttons
7. Sticky Fingers
8. A Bigger Bang
9. Some Girls

Not too familiar with the geezer years (other than Bigger Bang), and pre-Aftermath all kind of runs together for me.

Let It Bleed then Exile then Beggar's Banquet. i can't honestly separate the 3 much at all. LiB is just slightly tighter as a set.

Word ... I would throw Sticky Fingers (1971) in that group (after Exile on Main Street and ahead of Beggar's Banquet), throw in the non-album singles ("Honky Tonk Women", "I Don't Know Why") and call it the best period (1968-1972) of one of the greatest bands in RNR history.

I've tried on a few occasions to get into EoMS. It just doesn't grab me at all.

Voted LiB, with Banquet a close second. BtB, Aftermath, Sticky Fingers and Tattoo You are all pretty solid too.

This band and Black Flag were my two favorite bands as a teenager. I never really got into their earlier stuff other than Hot Rocks, though, for some reason.

1. Sticky Fingers
2. Exile On Main Street
3. Let It Bleed
4. Hot Rocks
5. Some Girls
6. Beggar's Banquet
7. It's Only Rock And Roll
8. Black And Blue
9. Aftermath
10. Tattoo You
11. Her Satanic Majesties Request

It's been too long since I've heard

Steel Wheels
Goats Head Soup
Dirty Work

to remember my opinion.
