Remembered a new #1...Deepa Mehta's Elemental Trilogy Fire, Earth and Water. Great Indian cinema.

Wow, extensive trilogy list, 1SO. I guess I voted for Three Colors.

Alien would win if it weren't for the crappy one.

You're in luck.  That was Part 4.  ;D

1. The Godfather (the mostly awful Part 3 doesn't mar the trilogy enough due to the awesomeness of the first two)
2. The Apu Trilogy (if "all films have to be great" was my criteria, this would be #1)
3. Three Colors

See, there is a slight dive in the storytelling in the last chapter for me. I haven't seen in it maybe 1 1/2 years, but that's how I remember my initial feelings.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

I don't think I can call a trilogy great if one of the three movies isn't good. 2/3rds of great = good. :)

I'm having a hard time choosing, I can't think of a single trilogy where I really liked all three.

Lord of the Rings, with Leone's a very close second.
