I get the themes, but the pairings are still way weird. I congratulate the mind that is capable of associating Kurosawa with Mad Max.

You've seen Yojimbo, right?

You're all invited to Johnny Guitar and Mad Max: Fury Road this Friday at my place. It's a potluck. I've got drinks covered.

Sure. I suppose you're going for the lone warrior who comes to a place and ends up righting some wrongs angle ?

Not really good with pairing up double features, but I'll take a stab in the dark.

S.F.W. and Series 7: The Contenders
Both explore how we allow our lives to be dictated by the media.

It's A Wonderful Life and Miracle On 34th Street
By the end of both movies, they present hopeful ideals in the face of pragmatic and challenging reality.

Asura and Frankenstein
Both are about misunderstood 'monsters' whose treatment received reflects the ugliness of humanity.

Buried and Phone Booth
Watch Buried and mourn, then Phone Booth and rejoice.

Die Hard and Hot Fuzz
First look at how badass John McClane is in Die Hard - then watch how Hot Fuzz tear it all down.

Cause and effect, from the roots of a obscure (at the time) subculture comes mainstream:

Paris is Burning & Madonna: Truth or Dare
Hey, nice marmot!

I just did a double feature of Annie Get Your Gun and Calamity Jane, which is like a close relative of Annie.
