That guys with the bow tie drives me nuts, but yeah, America's Test Kitchen recipes are great.
Yeah, he drives me nuts too, but they appeal to the scientist in me. The books are nice because each one has a little write up before them which talks about what worked and what didn't work while they created the recipe. It's very helpful.
They do that segment on the TV show where he does a blind taste test of some product or another (chocolate, salsa...etc.) and he's always just a little too pleased with himself when he's able to pick the most expensive brand.
Yeah, he's quite smug, and they totally crap on any other recipe if it's not theirs. It does bug me, but I also think they are really great about testing the recipes until they come up with a technically great one. I usually fast forward through the taste test portion of the show.
