Good review. I too share your reservations about solitary-voiced podcasts. Not only for the reasons you stated, but also because--unless said voice is that of someone used to talking-as-performance--the speaking tone tends to become a monotonous drone in my head, and I just can't stay focused. This is the same reason why I can't listen to audio books.

I think I'm okay with solitary-voiced podcasts in short doses, but the longer they get the more I too lose focus and my attention wanders.

You know how video game companies, while making a game, will sometimes hire a specialized consultant to advise on achieving a high Metacritic score? Well, I think podcasters should hire you for the same kind of consultation.

Ha, thanks man. :)

impressed by scenes of a marriage if it's the tv version  :)

TV version once, theatrical version the other times.  I prefer the theatrical.

i'm just glad when people have seen the scent of green papaya (or any of his movies).

I've seen all his movies.  Vertical Ray three times, Cyclo twice.

I've started blogging about TV for Sound on Sight. I'm writing weekly reviews on Torchwood and True Blood as well as a weekly article on a different topic. Last week, I did a Top 10 on True Blood and this week I did a brief history and analysis of the Western on television. Check it out, if that's your cuppa.
