Oddly enough the two "surprises" for me so far are two that were on last year...Hoop Dreams and Miller's Crossing. Outside of Coen Bros discussions I don't feel like I've really heard much about Miller's Crossing and it isn't exactly a pedigree film (it isn't on a lot of lists at iCheckMovies); not having seen it yet I can't say if this is good or bad surprise. Again I don't hear much about Hoop Dreams around these parts, I didn't really like it so maybe that heightens my surprise in this case. Anyway, I think ten I liked/loved, five I didn't and five I haven't seen is a pretty good balance.

Miller's Crossing and Hoop Drams both have a lot of big fans around here. You missed a lot of those discussions during the 90s US bracket.

YESSSSS! The Red Shoes!! Thank you Filmspotters!

This.

Also thrilled to see my #2, The Philadelphia Story making the list.  Miller's Crossing is awesome too.

I'm kind of glad I did because that bracket was brutal to the films I love. The advantage of non-US brackets or pre-90s brackets is I'm much less invested and can just discover.

Duck Soup, Oz, Dogs, and Memento should be higher.

It will be really fun to do a second Filmspotting top 100 marathon. So far, what I haven't seen:

F*cking Amal
The Philadelphia Story
American Beauty
The Red Shoes

Fix this.

That would be the purpose of the marathon. :)
