It seems that all I have to do to get you people to watch some Borzage is to load him at the front end of my list like roujin did with Only Angels Have Wings. In that spirit, consider this my top 10.

10. Man's Castle
9. The River
8. Bad Girl
7. Moonrise
6. No Greater Glory
5. 7th Heaven
4. Little Man, What Now
3. Lucky Star
2. The Mortal Storm
1. Three Comrades

No offense, but you just don't have your evil twin's charisma.

One director you never hear mentioned here is Polish master Andrei Wajda.  His WWII films Ashes and Diamonds and Kanal are some of the best movies ever made.

Kanal is about the failed Warsaw uprising and tells the story of Polish freedom fighters trying to escape German encirclement through the sewers.  The dark, wet, airless sewers, are like the corridors of hell.  Soon fear, confusion, exhaustion, and madness take hold as the group desperately tries to reach daylight and freedom.

Ashes and Diamonds takes place right after Poland is liberated by Soviet armies, with the Russians sidestepping the Polish nationalists in favor of Moscow grown Polish communists.  The heroes that fought the Nazis are now once again hunted, this time by their alleged liberators.  The movie follows two Polish freedom fighters who spend a night at an inn on a mission to assassinate a Soviet agent.

I love this image.

I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

I'm pretty sure Wajda has been discussed here on several occasions. I've reviewed some of his films at my blog because I heard about him from the message boards in fact.

Regardless, he is a pretty darn good director. I like his work.
-Le Chiffre: You changed your shirt, Mr Bond. I hope our little game isn't causing you to perspire.

-James Bond: A little. But I won't consider myself to be in trouble until I start weeping blood.

Kanal is in my top 100. Ashes and Diamonds, I didn't like as much but I might watch it again before the top 100 since I actually own it.

These are sitting on my shelf..  Gimme a list of 10 I should watch before the top 100 deadline, and rank them.
