1. El Topo
2. Santa Sangre

3. The Holy Mountain
4. La Cravate

5. Fando and Lis

Often problematic, but visionary.  Holy Mountain, for all its problems, is a stunning film.

My Top 3 would be the same.  Would make for a wonderful/frustrating marathon.

It is a toss up between the 2 that I have seen (El Topo and Holy Mountain), but went with The Holy Mountain for the heavy symbolism.

I only saw The Holy Mountain. Disappointed and the more I think of the film on the odd occasion that I'm reminded of it, I like it even less. But that's only one film of his.

A unique visionary guaranteed to lose money at the boxoffice.  Sadly his gangster film fell through due to lack of funding, and Son of El Topo is having trouble being lifted off.  He is 80, so sadly I doubt he will make another film.  :'(
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

Well, you seem to like him enough. What would you suggest I check out knowing that I saw The Holy Mountain and didn't like it? Anything in his filmmography that can get me looking forward to exploring more of his work?
