One of cinema's most controversial figures.

1. The Gospel According to St. Matthew
2. Accattone
3. Teorema

4. Mamma Roma
5. The Hawks and the Sparrows

6. Salo
7. Oedipus Rex

I get what he was doing with Salo, and I respect the idea behind it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.  I also think the acting is quite poor (which in the grand scheme of things might be a good sign).

Salo, just over Gospel. Then Mamma Roma, then Accatone. Teorema didn't do much for me at the time.

One of those like Takeshi Kitano whose direction is often more interesting than the films themselves.

Salo has it for me by default I suppose, but I really liked it. Totally need to check out more.
