Three Monkeys

Some beautiful photography, especially the opening driving shots against the blackest of black, but I'm not sure the material is a good fit for Ceylan's developing style. It's like a spartan Michael Haneke film, with characters act on their emotions instead of their intellect. Meanwhile, Ceylan keeps a cool detachment so that I often felt I was observing from too great a distance.
