Roeg puts the "gratuitous" in ""gratuitous sex & nudity".  Not much of a fan, although I think he's a good stylist.

When I was a kid in Texas, Roeg's films were the ultimate in subversive film making.  Every time I got to see one, I felt like I'd gotten away with something.  In a weird way, I still do.

1. Walkabout
2. Don't Look Now

I saw The Man Who Fell To Earth a long time ago, but I think I slept through part of it.

I'd put Petulia ahead of any of these.

I'd put Petulia ahead of all of these, too, but I'm curious why you're comparing them?  Surreal late-60s films?
Yeah, I think Richard Lester is one of the most under-rated directors of all time.  Petulia is a masterpiece, but so are the Muskateer films, Hard Days Night, Robin and Marian and Butch and Sundance: The Early Years
And Help and Superman II are pretty awesome as well.

One wonders why he isn't talked about more often.  When I think about 60s films, I think Lester more than anyone... then maybe Lindsay Anderson.

Roeg was the DP on Petulia.  And it feels a lot more like a Roeg film than a Lester film, to me.

Walkabout, I guess, but I'd rather cast a negative vote for Man Who Fell to Earth.
