I suppose I should see Whisky Galore at some point, but I fear it may be loaded with bad drunk acting (a pet peeve of mine).

IIRC, nobody gets drunk in the film. The story centers on a ship which runs aground off the coast of a small Scottish town. The ship is carrying hundreds of cases of scotch whiskey, and the locals are trying to salvage as much as possible before the authorities get there and confiscate it. It's memorable Ealing humor, from their most creative year, 1949. If you like dry British comedy, then this will probably entertain you.

Sammy Going South (1963)

A High Wind in Jamaica
(1965)

No buried treasure here, just a couple of misguided efforts centered around children. The tone is too adult to call it a family film, but too silly in places to be taken seriously. Jamaica gets the slight edge because we have to wait for half the film for Edward G. Robinson to enter Sammy, and he plays it old and tired. Jamaica gives lots of screen time to Anthony Quinn being so hammy he must've thought this was a Disney film. It also benefits from some deadpan cool by James Coburn and this post by smirnoff doesn't hurt. (The moment the crew started getting the monkey drunk the film seemed very familiar.)
