The Devil and Miss Jones Sam Wood, 1941

Charles Coburn is some totally rich old dude who goes undercover at one of his own department stores to ferret out the bad elements that are disturbing his richness. While there, he meets the wonderfultastic Jean Arthur, who's all niceties and smiles and amazingness. But her boyfriend is the one who's riling up all the employees. It's a pleasant comedy. The film's greatest strength is Coburn's relaxed sense of comedy - he never overplays. A film about the 1% getting to know the rest of us, and finding out that they don't want to screw them anymore because, well, we're nice people! If only every salesgirl was a Jean Arthur in disguise. It's heartwarming stuff, as lesser souls sometimes say. No flashes of brilliance or anything. Just solid. But sometimes solid is what you need.

You had me at Charles Coburn, who is a cinematic national treasure. Then you add Jean Arthur. I can already tell Mrs. 1SO will love it. Does it recapture any of "The More The Merrier" magic?

It's a different dynamic, but yes.
