pixote, stop trying to complicate my life. :D
Decisions are made by those who show up.

I expect Planet Earth would have been eligible as it is essentially a single-topic mini-series rather than an episodic documentary series spanning diverse topics (Michael Moore's series for one is ineligible). I certainly counted TV based documentaries like Frontline episodes as eligible since they are marketed individually.

I guess that's fair. But a 162-film shortlist of the best documentaries of all-time that doesn't include Hearts of Darkness, Sans Soleil, and Woodstock seems kinda ... suspect.

Is it too late to get my one film in?

Yeah, I didn't compare the lists in the Top 5 Docs thread with the lists in this thread; I only combed through the former.

I agree.  These three films need to be given a chance.   I haven't seen them yet, but I would, if given a chance to vote on them.

As long as titles are still being suggested. New York Doll is 7.8 at IMDb. It has some interesting interviews with Arthur Kane, Leee Black Childers, Bob Geldof, Chrissie Hynde...

Here is a portion of the Sundance write up. New York Doll relates the meteoric rise, resounding fall, and recent all-too-brief resurrection of the seminal New York glam-rock-punk band, the New York Dolls, but it is foremost a story about the band's amazing bassist and leader, Arthur "Killer" Kane. With empathy, respect, and humor, director and friend Greg Whiteley follows Kane and interviews key musicians, friends, and colleagues to uncover the legacy of the Dolls and their significant impact on the London music scene in the dizzying heyday of the early 1970s.

It stands out from the documentaries that I have seen (which truth be told, are not that extensive.)

We've got 162 in right now. If someone wants to organize a list of biggest snubs (i.e. build off of what pix posted) and launch a poll, I'd be willing to take the top 13 vote-getters and bump it up to 175. The key here is me doing less additional work. I've got teaching duties I didn't have when I first started organizing this shindig.
