I just couldn't look away from Ledger's Joker.

Performances that just missed the cut:

Alec Baldwin - Glengarry Glen Ross
Ellen DeGeneres - Finding Nemo

Didn't have DeGeneres on my list but great choice and I loved Baldwin.

Ones that made me happy (not a fan of the placement but whatever)...

Nicolas Cage (Adaptation)
Peter Capaldi (In the Loop)- JUST MISSED THE RANKINGS ON MY LIST!!!
Tom Cruise (Magnolia)
Kirk Douglas (Paths of Glory)
Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now)
Gene Hackman (The Conversation)- FORGOT TO PUT THIS ON MY LIST!!!
Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs)
Tony Leung (Happy Together)- FORGOT TO PUT THIS ON MY LIST!!!
Al Pacino (Dog Day Afternoon)
Jack Lemmon (Glengarry Glen Ross)
Alan Rickman (Die Hard)
Roy Scheider (All That Jazz)- IIRC, HE WAS MY #1!!!
Kevin Spacey (American Beauty)

MOST HAPPY FOR...
Ulrich Muhe (The Lives of Others)

WAS HOPING TO SEE...
Paul Newman (The Verdict)
"Be yourself, unless you suck."- Joss Whedon

It is clear that you hate all good things. First Rian Johnson now Tom Cruise! I don't care for The Big Lebowski, though.

I'm also really really really (no, really) surprised at Tom Cruise's placement at #7. I like the performance, but it's not even the best performance from Magnolia (that would be either John C. Reilly or Melora Walters.... or Phillip Baker Hall). Actually I'm surprised that a different Cruise performance didn't fare better than Frank T.J. Mackey. The first that pop into my mind are Jerry Maguire and Born on the 4th of July.

Great job on making the list, Gotham!

Whoa whoa whoa there.  I don't hate Rian Johnson.  I've only seen one of his movies (i.e., HALF his output) and I liked it.  I just doubt whether he belongs in a top 100.

I don't especially hate Tom Cruise either, but #7 performance of all time just for saying "cock" and "c*nt" a lot?

Firstly, hate was said with a  ;). Secondly, I assume that most of the respect for the performance comes from the interview segment (which is a sharp contrast to the speech segment) and the deathbed segment. It's a fantastic performance that is truly touching.

Interesting list. Strange that I haven't even heard of the #1 pick.
